What changes
- Native plugin loading
- Startup logs for loader and plugin diagnosis
Using it in your game
Install the loader before a native plugin that needs it. Launch once to establish that the loader initializes, then add the plugin and compare the loading messages.
Use red4ext/logs/red4ext.log to distinguish a loader problem from a plugin problem. A working loader does not certify the patch support of every installed plugin.
Before you choose
A successful loader start does not certify that every plugin supports the current patch.
Requirements
- Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable (x64)
Windows runtime needed by the native loader. Install the x64 package linked by the author.
Open this mod and its tracked prerequisites together. External runtimes still need your confirmation.
Open the dependency plan →Install and check
- Back up your saves and note the game patch shown in the main menu. Keep the downloaded archive’s installed-file list.
- Install the x64 Visual C++ runtime linked by the author.
- Download the RED4ext release archive for your game patch and extract it into the game root, preserving its folders.
- Launch once before adding a dependent plugin.
How to check the result
Inspect red4ext/logs/red4ext.log for initialization and plugin-loading messages.
Try this check before adding another mod, so a failure points to the change you just made.

Update or roll back
Use the author’s removal instructions for the installed release. Identify dependent plugins before removing their loader; keep an installed-file record.
Questions about RED4ext
Is RED4ext the same as REDmod?
No. RED4ext loads native plugins. REDmod is CDPR’s separate modding tool; one does not replace the other.
RED4ext starts, but a plugin crashes. What next?
Check the named plugin’s own release support and requirements. Update only with a matching author build, then test that plugin separately.
