- Installation
- Author release archive
- Sources checked
Check the original author’s release for your installed patch. An unofficial rebuild in a collection is not evidence of original-author support.

What changes
- Custom input XML merging
- A startup log for input-merge problems
Using it in your game
Keep the game’s base input configuration vanilla and let the loader merge the dependent mod’s input XML. A separate mod overwriting the base files can disrupt that process.
When a hotkey is missing, inspect red4ext/logs/input_loader.log and confirm the XML is installed where the dependent mod expects it before changing keybindings.
Before you choose
The author requires the base input configuration files to remain vanilla. A mod that overwrites them can break merging.
Requirements
- RED4ext
Loads native plugins used by frameworks such as ArchiveXL and Codeware. REDmod is a separate tool.
Open this mod and its tracked prerequisites together. External runtimes still need your confirmation.
Open the dependency plan →Install and check
- Back up your saves and note the game patch shown in the main menu. Keep the downloaded archive’s installed-file list.
- Install a matching RED4ext release and the original author’s Input Loader release under red4ext/plugins, preserving the archive paths.
- Install the dependent mod’s input XML where its author specifies, commonly r6/input.
- Launch and inspect the merge log before testing its hotkey.
How to check the result
Inspect red4ext/logs/input_loader.log for merged inputs or warnings about modified base configurations.
Try this check before adding another mod, so a failure points to the change you just made.
Mods that use Input Loader
These directory entries name this mod as a prerequisite. Install only the content you want and follow each author’s release requirements.
Let There Be Flight
Adds vehicle flight controls with several flight modes. Consult the author’s release notes before using it on a newer patch.
Immersive Timeskip
Lets you advance time while keeping the world visible, using a custom timeskip widget and hotkey.
Update or roll back
Follow the author’s uninstallation section. It documents an input_loader_uninstall.bat script for removing plugin files, merged caches and the loader configuration; inspect it and keep backups before use.
Questions about Input Loader
Why is a custom hotkey missing?
Check the merge log, the dependent XML and the selected release’s game support. Confirm another mod has not replaced the vanilla input configuration.
Does a collection’s Input Loader version prove compatibility?
No. Check the original author and distinguish any unofficial rebuild from that author’s own release.
