What changes

  • Resource loading
  • Localization and appearance support

Using it in your game

ArchiveXL supplies resource-loading support for other mods. Its installation is only one part of adding a custom item; you still need the item mod itself.

When testing, choose one dependent item and check its appearance or localization. A loader starting successfully and an item rendering correctly are separate checks.

Before you choose

REDmod does not replace RED4ext. The reviewed release requires RED4ext 1.31.0+; redscript 0.5.32+ is a compatible integration, needed when your content mod requires it.

Requirements

  • RED4ext

Loads native plugins used by frameworks such as ArchiveXL and Codeware. REDmod is a separate tool.

Open this mod and its tracked prerequisites together. External runtimes still need your confirmation.

Install and check

  1. Back up your saves and note the game version shown in the main menu.
  2. Open the author’s download page and install the requirements listed for your chosen release.
  3. Follow that release’s extraction instructions, keeping a record of the installed files.
  4. Launch once with this mod before adding another. Use the success check below.

How to check the result

Check the RED4ext logs for successful plugin loading, then test the dependent item.

Try this check before adding another mod, so a failure points to the change you just made.

Mods that use ArchiveXL

These directory entries name this mod as a prerequisite. Install only the content you want and follow each author’s release requirements.

  • Equipment-EX

Adds a wardrobe interface for combining compatible clothing and managing saved outfits.

  • Mod Settings

Adds a settings page that participating redscript mods can configure. Separate from CET’s Native Settings UI.

  • Virtual Atelier

A framework for in-game clothing stores and item previews. Install a separate store and its items to populate the catalog.

  • Virtual Car Dealer

Provides a virtual vehicle shop that compatible car packs can populate through TweakXL.

Update or roll back

Use the author’s uninstall instructions for the installed release. Restore a clean save if your modded save depends on removed content. Keep shared frameworks used by other mods.

Questions about ArchiveXL

Does ArchiveXL add clothing on its own?

It provides resource-loading support. To see a custom item, install the item mod that uses ArchiveXL and follow that item’s own requirements and acquisition instructions.

Is ArchiveXL the same as TweakXL?

No. ArchiveXL handles resources and appearance support; TweakXL modifies game data in TweakDB. A content mod may require both for different parts of its setup.
