Small PC Quality-of-Life Setup
Choose inventory search or visible-world waiting, install only the required PC frameworks, then confirm one change before adding another.
Updated on
Choose one small improvement first: searching your items or waiting while the world stays visible. Install its prerequisites, verify its effect, then decide whether you want the second change.
This is a PC installation route based on author documentation reviewed on 26 October 2026. It is not a tested modpack or a promise that a collection’s fixed file versions work together. The detail pages distinguish source-reviewed release numbers from author-stated game support.
Choose your first change
| What bothers you? | Start with | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Finding items in a large inventory | Stash and Backpack Search | A search field in the screen you chose |
| Waiting takes you out of the world | Immersive Timeskip | Its widget opens, advances time and stops |
The word “small” describes the changes to your play routine. Each still needs shared frameworks; neither should be treated as a dependency-free download. For console options, use the PS5 and Xbox recommendations.
Prepare a clean baseline
Make a manual save and keep a separate backup. Note your game patch, store and current installed mods. Launch the game before changing files so you know whether the problem already exists.
Use each original author’s release page. Keep the archive and note the release you selected. A mod collection can pin a different version from the author’s current release; a version number on this page is a review snapshot rather than a command to downgrade or upgrade an existing setup.
The PC install guide explains the game-root folder and manual versus Vortex installation. Do not apply these Windows archive instructions to a console.
Route A: inventory search
Start here if finding an item is your main problem. The author publishes separate Backpack Search and Stash Search files. Pick one screen to test first, or install both deliberately.
Follow the order below and check each stage before adding the next. These steps come from the directory’s named requirements.
Check this external prerequisite first
- RED4ext
Inspect red4ext/logs/red4ext.log for initialization and plugin-loading messages.
- Codeware
Check RED4ext’s plugin-loading log, then test the dependent feature. Codeware alone does not add a clothing shop.
- redscript
Check the release’s startup log under r6/logs. The current README names redscript_rCURRENT.log; older releases may use a different log name.
- Stash and Backpack Search
The chosen screen should have a search field. Verify a known item appears and that clearing restores the list.
Source review only. Choose matching author releases for your game patch; this order does not certify a working combination.
Open this dependency checklist →Open the screen corresponding to your selected file. Search for an item you know you own, then clear the query and confirm the unfiltered items return. That checks both the new input and the menu state after a search.
If you already have an inventory overhaul, read both authors’ compatibility notes before combining them. Sharing the same frameworks does not mean two mods editing one screen can work without a patch.
Route B: visible-world waiting
Choose this route independently of inventory search. Its input dependency is different, so you do not need Codeware merely because the other route uses it.
Follow the order below and check each stage before adding the next. These steps come from the directory’s named requirements.
Check this external prerequisite first
- RED4ext
Inspect red4ext/logs/red4ext.log for initialization and plugin-loading messages.
- Input Loader
Inspect red4ext/logs/input_loader.log for merged inputs or warnings about modified base configurations.
- redscript
Check the release’s startup log under r6/logs. The current README names redscript_rCURRENT.log; older releases may use a different log name.
- Immersive Timeskip
Start the widget while the world stays visible, then stop it with the hotkey. Check Input Loader’s log if the input never registers.
Source review only. Choose matching author releases for your game patch; this order does not certify a working combination.
Open this dependency checklist →Use the binding documented for your installed release. The description lists keyboard O; the release history contains controller-binding changes, so check the current configuration rather than copying an old controller instruction. Mod Settings is optional for its in-game hotkey configuration and adds its own requirements.
First confirm that starting and stopping work outside a vehicle. Then check the current instructions for vehicle inputs. Avoid debugging several hotkey mods at once.
If a check fails
The game fails before I reach the menus
Stop adding content. Compare the framework releases with your game patch and inspect the logs linked from RED4ext and redscript. Use the recovery checklist to isolate the last change.
Search appears in the stash but not the backpack
Check which of the two author files you installed. This symptom does not automatically mean every prerequisite needs reinstalling. Open the matching detail page’s installation check.
Timeskip is installed but the hotkey does nothing
Check Input Loader’s log, the dependent XML and the binding for your release. Verify that another input mod has not overwritten the base game input files.
Add a second change deliberately
When the first check succeeds, record the installed releases and result. You can then follow the other route, retaining shared dependencies rather than extracting multiple conflicting copies. Repeat its success check after installation.
For shopping and outfit management, continue with the clothing and wardrobe route. For console or everyday interactions, use the Night City immersion guide.
Update or remove
Before updating, read the affected author’s release notes and preserve your working setup record. Avoid changing every dependency and feature in one batch while diagnosing an error.
The two detail pages identify the author’s removal files. Keep a framework while another installed mod still needs it. A successful launch after removal is one check; it is not proof that every affected save or menu is unchanged.
